The North Carolina Forest Service is a team of professionals who provide forest protection, emergency response, resource management, and environmental education to the residents and landowners of North Carolina through a variety of programs. The NC Forest Service provides services to the 100 counties in North Carolina.

This position is responsible for managing the production and day to day operations of a major, multi-species bareroot and container forest tree seedling nursery. This position also interacts with landowners and tree planting contractors to coordinate in-state and out-of-state seedling deliveries. In addition, this position troubleshoots product problems, investigates and resolves customer complaints and provides program management and oversight in the absence of the Nursery and Tree Improvement Program Head.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

Recruitment Range: $55,221 - $96,639

  • Knowledge of North Carolina Forest Service programs and services.

  • Experience in forest tree nursery or agriculture management.

  • Working knowledge of forest tree seedling nursery practices in the Southern United States.

  • Knowledge of state budgets as well as purchasing and contract procedures.

  • Ability to provide excellent customer service and administrative responsibilities.
