Saint Agnes Medical Providers (SAMP) is seeking a full time Nurse Practitioner (NP) with RNFA certification and/or Physician Assistant (PA) to join a dynamic Sports Orthopedic Surgery team in Fresno, California. This position supports a busy, growing orthopedic practice and works in close collaboration with a Sports Orthopedic Surgeon and multidisciplinary care team.

The APP functions as an integral part of the care team, providing comprehensive patient care across surgical, inpatient, outpatient, and clinic settings, with a strong emphasis on perioperative management and surgical first assist responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as Surgical First Assist during orthopedic procedures, following best practices and maintaining surgical safety standards.
  • Provide perioperative patient care, including pre-operative evaluations, intraoperative assistance, and post-operative management.
  • Conduct inpatient rounds and outpatient follow-ups to ensure continuity of care and optimal recovery outcomes.
  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and assist in treatment planning.
  • Coordinate and manage the care of assigned patients, including directing ancillary clinical staff as appropriate.
  • Collaborate closely with orthopedic surgeons, sports medicine physicians, nurses, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality, coordinated care.
  • Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, surgical procedures, rehabilitation plans, and recovery expectations.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation.
  • Participate in shared general orthopedic call responsibilities as part of the care team.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
  • NP candidates must hold RNFA certification
  • Current and unrestricted California NP or PA license
  • DEA registration and Controlled Substance certification
  • Current BLS certification; ACLS preferred
  • Current national certification (AANP/ANCC for NP or NCCPA for PA)
  • Minimum of 3 years of surgical/perioperative first assist experience preferred
  • Experience in orthopedic or sports medicine surgery strongly preferred
  • Ability to obtain hospital privileges at Saint Agnes Medical Center

Work Schedule
