Apply for this exciting opportunity to join Highmark Health as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant - Outpatient Express Care. We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate healthcare professional to provide high-quality patient care in our outpatient express care setting.

Job Overview:

This job is an integral part of the care delivery system, working together to provide a healing environment by placing our customers first. The incumbent provides primary healthcare services for non-acute or chronic health conditions in specific populations in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies, values, and mission of the organization within the CRNP scope of practice.

Work Schedule:

  • 212 hours and 28 hour shifts
  • Rotation of weekends

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provides appropriate patient care, including:
  • Recording patient medical history and physical assessment
  • Developing therapeutic care plans
  • Ordering diagnostic tests
  • Interpreting test results
  • Providing accurate medical record documentation
  • Communicates and coordinates patient care with patient, family, community health services, and interdisciplinary team
  • Involves attending physician regarding plan of care and involves physician in clinical decision making of any issues outside the CRNPs knowledge base or scope of practice
  • Provides monitoring and continuity of care and coordinates periodic evaluation by physicians as defined in the written agreement between the CRNP and the supervising physicians
  • Prepares written prescription orders for drugs and controlled substances
  • Administers medication and injections
  • Provides wound care
  • Educates patients and family members regarding health and preventive medicine
  • Participates in performance and/or quality improvement initiatives
  • Ensures compliance with all regulatory agencies

Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in Nursing (MSN) from a practicing State Board of Nursing Approved Masters Program
  • National Board Certification for Nurse Practitioners through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP)
  • American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or National Certification Corporation (NCC) or Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB) certification
  • Practicing-state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner
  • Prescriptive Authority from the practicing state within 60 days of hire
  • Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) licensure within 60 days of hire
  • CPR - American Heart Association
  • Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
  • Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate
  • Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in Physician Assistant Studies
  • Current PA Physician Assistant License
  • Ongoing successful recertification as a PA-C within 90 days of hire
  • DEA licensure within 60 days of hire
  • CPR - American Heart Association
  • Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate
  • Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
  • Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
