Summary:

Full time opportunity for APP to join a busy neurology practice in beautiful northern Michigan.  Candidate will collaborate with physician on new patient consults, conduct most short and long term follow-ups and be the primary provider for more common visit types.  Willingness to learn administration of botox injections and occipital nerve blocks.  Candidates preferred with some level of experience in neurology or general medicine, but willing to evaluate new graduates and/or those with limited neurology experience.  Traditional Monday through Friday 8 AM to 5 PM schedule.  Potential for some outreach clinics once or twice per month in the eastern upper peninsula once experienced.

Responsibilities:
  • Direct patient care of patients with a wide spectrum of neurologic diseases.
  • Perform history and physicals, ordering of diagnostic studies, prescribe medications, interaction and direct communication with referring physicians with collaboration and direct reporting of patient information to the medical staff.
  • Coordinate care with other disciplines, build strong collaborative relationships across the organization as many neurology patients require long-term follow-up.
  • Direct care and management in the outpatient setting would include: initiation of evaluation, patient and family education, counseling and support, collaboration with and referrals to other health care providers, and provision of education to nursing staff, students, and the community.
  • Review laboratory, pathology and radiographic tests results and interface with medical staff and patients regarding test results and plan of care.
Certifications and Licensures:
  • AHA approved BLS certification
  • Active State of Michigan license or eligible to apply
Required Education:
  • Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Experience preferred (neurology or general medicine)
