Hellgate Elementary School Nurse Position
The School Nurse will provide professional nursing services in accordance with the needs of the student population and school community. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Professional Nursing Skills
Develop and implement Individual Health Care Plans, utilizing the nursing process and a collaborative approach with students, parents, healthcare providers, and school staff.
Provide population-based health services and case management for students with special health needs.
Contribute written health histories, assessments, and educational implications as requested.
Collaborate in the evaluation of school health services, procedures, and programs based on professional judgment and evidence-based practices.
Participate in planning and providing health curricula, instruction, materials, and promotion activities for the school community.
Perform skilled nursing procedures safely, competently, and efficiently.
Promote health, safety, and a healthy environment by managing communicable diseases and safety concerns within the school community.
Ensure compliance with student immunization requirements.
Coordinate vision and hearing screenings and contribute to their evaluation and improvement.
Assess the health status of students and staff and provide nursing and emergency care as needed.
Act as a liaison among school personnel, parents, and healthcare providers.
Communication and Interpersonal Skills
Foster respectful and collaborative relationships with administration, staff, students, parents, and colleagues.
Actively collaborate with school staff to enhance professional practice and student health outcomes.
Respond professionally to advice, feedback, and constructive criticism.
Professional Responsibilities
Adhere to federal and state regulations and Hellgate Elementary policies related to school nursing.
Follow ethical and professional nursing standards as defined by the ANA (American Nurses Association) and NASN (National Association of School Nurses).
Maintain and advance nursing knowledge and skills through professional development.
Uphold professionalism in appearance, demeanor, punctuality, and communication.
Ensure confidentiality regarding students, personnel, and other job-related matters.
Education, Licensure, Experience, and Certification
Baccalaureate in nursing preferred.
Valid Montana Registered Nurse license.
Current CPR certification (or completion within one month of hire).
American Heart Association Heartsaver or BLS (Basic Life Support) instructor certification (or ability to obtain within six months of hire).
Two years of full-time clinical nursing experience preferred, with emphasis on pediatric, community health, or case management.
Compensation and Benefits:
Salary Range: $52-56K depending on experience
Work Schedule: 8 hours/day/98 days for the 25-26 school year.
