    POSITION SUMMARY:

    The Manager-Patient Care Services has oversight of the Operating Room at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore, including the main/general operating room (GOR), cardiac (COR), orthopedic OR (RIAO OR), and Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC). The OR Nurse Manager has 3 assistant nurse manager direct reports, and up to 120 FTEs across Perioperative Services.

    The OR Nurse Manager is responsible for ensuring that safe, age-appropriate patient care is provided during hours of unit operation. Functions as role model, advisor, resource, and leader for other members of the patient care team.

    Essential Functions:

    Clinical Management: Provides overall direction for and coordination of unit operational needs. Maintains basic nursing skills as required by specialty area. Develops and sets strategic target plans for unit outcomes and specific customer service goals.

    Leadership/Resource Management: Ensures appropriate utilization of resources and skill mix to meet patients care needs on unit. Evaluates staff in a timely manner using reliable and objective performance management criteria to include chart documentation audits, PI monitoring, direct observation and peer evaluation.

    Performance Improvement: Establishes and maintains processes to evaluate to delivery of care in an ongoing manner. Works with multidisciplinary groups to design and implement a plan for unit process improvements.

    Fiscal Management: Manages and prepares operations/capital budget to provide needed resources (physical and fiscal) in accordance with patient needs, established care standards, and within guidelines. Identifies and analyzes budget variances and other management information and formulates corrective action plans.

    Compliance: Ensures staff awareness of and compliance with patient safety, policy procedures and regulatory requirements. Communicates to staff the expectations for learning and implementing new or revised standards.

    Professional Development: Maintains and supports an environment that promotes accountability for professional growth and development. Assists staff in professional growth and development via advancement in the Clinical Ladder, specialty certification and/or pursuit of formal educational opportunities.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

    • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN degree) from a CCNE accredited School of Nursing. In addition, a master's degree (MSN, MS, MA, MHA or MBA) is preferred
    • 3-5 years progressive nursing experience in the OR with preference for demonstrated progression in supervisory responsibilities
    • Maryland Registered Nurse License (RN)
    • American Heart Association BLS Certification
    • National Certification required
