About the Role

Become a key clinical and operational leader within a high‑acuity Intensive Care Unit (ICU) responsible for caring for critically ill adult patients with complex, unstable, or life‑threatening conditions.
As the Nurse Manager, you will guide and support an experienced ICU nursing team, promote evidence‑based critical care practices, and ensure safe, high‑quality patient outcomes across a fast‑paced environment that can include medical ICU, surgical ICU, trauma ICU, or mixed‑acuity adult critical care populations.

This role requires an experienced ICU leader with strong clinical judgment, the ability to act decisively under pressure, and a commitment to fostering a collaborative, high‑performance culture.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

  • Oversee daily operations of the ICU, ensuring safe, effective, and evidence‑based care delivery.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate ICU policies, workflows, and clinical standards.
  • Ensure the unit remains fully stocked and equipped with necessary critical care supplies and monitoring equipment.

Staff Leadership & Development

  • Lead, mentor, recruit, schedule, and evaluate ICU nursing staff; maintain safe staffing levels based on patient acuity.
  • Provide ongoing education, skills development, and training in advanced critical care practices.
  • Promote a positive work environment built on teamwork, accountability, and professional growth.

Patient Care Oversight

  • Coordinate multidisciplinary care with intensivists, hospitalists, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and specialty consultants.
  • Assess patient needs, manage acuity, and ensure consistent delivery of high‑quality critical care.
  • Serve as the escalation point for complex patient or family concerns, providing clear communication and compassionate support.

Administrative & Quality Leadership

  • Manage unit budgets, staffing plans, resource allocation, and overall operational performance.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory, hospital, and ICU‑specific standards, including infection prevention and safety protocols.
  • Lead performance improvement, patient‑safety, and quality‑of‑care initiatives within the ICU.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of recent, relevant ICU clinical experience
  • Minimum 3+ years of Recent (Within the last year) Acute Care Leadership Experience as an ICU Manager (Required)
  • BSN required
  • Current Registered Nurse License in the State of Florida OR Multistate Compact License
    • Compact license holders must obtain a Florida license within 60 days of hire
  • Current American Heart Association BLS Certification (Required)
