Excellent Leadership Opportunity for RN!
Department: Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine
Since 1970, Community Health Services has existed to provide comprehensive health care services to the residents of Hartford and Windsor. We were made for the community, by the community, to offer a full spectrum of services to include medical, behavioral health care, dental care, a full-service pharmacy and more. Our goal is to offer our patients a medical home; a place where they can come for all of their needs; a place where the clinical staff know them by their first name. Our dedicated staff demonstrate the good we can do on a daily basis when we provide quality care with dignity to each and every individual. We want to help our patients get all of the health care they need - when they need it - so they may too live a healthier and happier life.
We are seeking a Nurse Manager (RN), with post-graduate clinical experience, preferably in a primary care setting, to join our Department of Pediatrics and Adolescent at Community Health Services (CHS). The Nurse Manager collaborates with the Clinical Director, Practice Manager, Director of Nursing, and other staff members to provide the best care for our patients. The Clinical Director of the department is Dr. Zeev Harel, former Brown University Medical School Professor of Pediatrics. Levels of employees' engagement and satisfaction in this department are well above national average.
Community Health Services participates in the NHSC Loan Repayment Program
The successful candidate will:
- Support the continuous improvement of clinical operations and workflow, patient satisfaction, clinical staff engagement and overall profitability and efficiency of the department
- Develop, implement, and monitor compliance with departmental policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure the safe delivery of nursing care
- Assess the efficiency and effectiveness of clinical workflows and recommend improvements to improve patient throughput
- With the Clinical Director and in accordance with PCMH principles, provide day-to-day oversight of clinical workflows to identify and resolve routine issues related to unanticipated changes in patient volume or provider availability
- Oversee the training, development, and evaluation of nursing and other clinical support staff to ensure clinical staff is able to work at the top scope of their licensure
- Oversee the assignment of Medical Assistants, including ensuring work is delegated appropriately and within the Medical Assistant scope of practice
- Under the supervision of the Clinical Director, develop standing orders that extend the capacity of providers by appropriately delegating routine clinical functions
- Manage the triage process to ensure patients are assessed in person and over the phone and prioritized appropriately
- Oversee department point of care testing procedures, including the performance and documentation of quality control testing
- Collaborate with Quality to monitor departmental compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards, including infection control, medical equipment and device, and environment of care standards
- Manage the reporting and tracking of communicable diseases in accordance with regulatory requirements
- Oversee the storage, management, and administration of medications in accordance with organization policy and regulatory requirements
- In collaboration with Quality, contribute to the development and review of organizational policies and procedures regarding nursing scope of practice
- As operationally appropriate, support the effective implementation of nurse visits, including ensuring adequate resources, appropriate training, and department alignment around nursing initiatives
- Oversee department care coordination staff and processes, ensuring referrals, orders for radiologic and diagnostic tests, consults, home care orders, and hospital discharges, are processed timely and accurately
- Manage the ordering of clinical supplies, vaccines, and medication to ensure inventory is adequate to support patient care
- Develop processes to support patient education, including overseeing the performance and analysis of patient literacy assessments
- Promote continual process improvement by using data analytic tool reports to identify gaps in care that could be addressed by nurses or other clinical support staff
- Provide direct patient care as staffing needs require
- Maintain required training for competency of CPR, HIPAA and Compliance, Waived testing, Infection Control, sterilization (if appropriate), and other topics as assigned.
- Maintain strict infection control standards in accord with CHS protocols and universal precautions OSHA and CLIA standards
- Perform all duties in accordance with CHS Core Values, Compliance Program, and other policies and procedures
- Develop, lead and participate in quality and process improvement efforts in the department and the organization as requested or as directed
- Complete training and professional development requirements in a timely manner
- Supervise activities of pediatric nurses, pediatric medical assistants, and a pediatric care coordinator.
- Collaborate/coordinate care with our pediatricians, pediatric nurse practitioners, and pediatric physician assistant, by assisting with exams, treatments, and procedures.

- Supervise vaccination program for our children and adolescent patients, as well as serve as the principal coordinator with the Connecticut Department of Health Vaccine Program.

Our 2025 Christmas Toy Drive has recently concluded with resounding success! CHS was able to provide gifts to more than 200 children and hundreds of families in our community. Santa and Mrs. Claus were on hand to greet the children and their families, making the day even more special.
What an amazing time we had! We would like to express our sincere gratitude to our dedicated Outreach Team, all of our staff and volunteers, and our generous community supporters. Thank you for coming together to ensure that every child-especially those facing challenging circumstances-experienced the joy of the holiday season. Happy Holidays to all!
