The
Nurse Manager II – Hospital (SPA/PACU) is responsible for leading nursing operations within a
24/7 clinical environment, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care while aligning with organizational and regulatory standards.
This role provides leadership for
perioperative services including PACU or SPA units, oversees staff development, and drives operational excellence through strategic planning, quality improvement initiatives, and collaboration with physicians and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
The Nurse Manager will also maintain clinical expertise while ensuring efficient resource utilization, regulatory compliance, and the continuous improvement of patient care delivery systems.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead and mentor nursing teams while fostering collaboration and engagement across departments.
- Recruit, train, coach, and develop nursing staff while supporting professional growth and succession planning.
- Establish performance management expectations and provide ongoing feedback and coaching.
- Promote a collaborative environment encouraging open communication and cross-functional partnerships.
Operational & Administrative Management
- Translate strategic objectives into operational plans and actionable goals.
- Ensure adherence to hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
- Manage departmental budgets, payroll, and financial resources.
- Oversee staffing models and workforce planning to ensure adequate clinical coverage.
- Remove operational barriers impacting team performance.
Patient Care Delivery Oversight
- Lead implementation of best-practice patient care models and clinical standards.
- Ensure safe and effective patient care delivery across SPA/PACU units.
- Collaborate with physicians and healthcare teams to improve patient outcomes.
- Manage equipment, supplies, medications, and clinical resources.
Quality, Compliance & Patient Safety
- Ensure compliance with The Joint Commission (TJC), Nursing Practice Act, and federal/state regulations.
- Lead continuous quality improvement initiatives focused on patient safety and care outcomes.
- Conduct readiness activities for regulatory surveys and audits.
- Monitor and address patient and family concerns related to care services.
Strategic & Program Management
- Lead cross-functional initiatives designed to improve operational efficiency and patient care outcomes.
- Develop data-driven strategies for performance improvement.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to align departmental initiatives with organizational goals.
Emergency Preparedness
- Support development and implementation of emergency preparedness and response programs.
- Ensure staff are trained and understand emergency protocols.
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum five (5) years of experience in patient care delivery
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN)
- Minimum five (5) years of experience in business operations, clinical healthcare, or related field
- Minimum four (4) years of leadership experience (with or without direct reports)
- Active Registered Nurse License – Oregon (Required at Hire)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification – Required at Hire
