Job Description

Harborview Medical Center, Washington States only Level I adult and pediatric trauma center, is seeking an experienced Operating Room Nurse Manager to join our leadership team.

Department Description

Our premier OR delivers exceptional surgical care across a broad spectrum of specialties, including orthopedics, spine, neurosurgery, burns, otolaryngology (ENT), oral-maxillofacial surgery, hand surgery, ophthalmology, plastics and reconstructive surgery, gynecology, vascular surgery, and general surgery. As the regional trauma center serving the five-state WWAMI region (Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana, and Idaho), we provide around-the-clock emergency surgical services while also supporting planned surgical care for our diverse patient population.

Our OR operates 24/7, performing over 17,000 cases annually across 25 individual OR suites supporting numerous surgical specialties.

The OR Nurse Manager is a key leadership role responsible for driving operational excellence and ensuring the highest standards of patient care. This position is instrumental in managing performance metrics and key performance indicators including OR utilization, efficiency, timeliness, and turnover times.

This role provides direct oversight of an Assistant Nurse Manager team that delivers frontline support for surgical service lines, daily operations, and charge nurse functions.

Responsibilities

Plan, implement, and evaluate unit programs to meet patient care needs and quality standards. Drive and monitor OR performance metrics including utilization, efficiency, timeliness, and turnover times. Provide direct oversight of the Assistant Nurse Manager group supporting service lines, operations, and charge nurse functions. Select, hire, develop, and supervise unit staff. Plan and manage the unit budget effectively. Provide leadership to promote professional nursing practice and staff development. Participate in decision-making processes and contribute to the development of policies and programs. Coordinate interdepartmental efforts to maintain a safe patient care environment.

Requirements

Current or ability to obtain Washington State RN license (or multistate license) Bachelors degree in nursing or higher Five or more years of professional operating room nursing experience Two or more years in a management, supervisory, or lead role (Assistant Nurse Manager experience preferred) Experience may be used to substitute for required education

Compensation, Benefits and Position Details
