• Provides classroom instruction and clinical assessment of students enrolled in the Home Health Aide (HHA) Training Program in accordance with New York State Department of Health regulations.
• Supervises and evaluates the skills of trainees and HHAs in a laboratory and/or patient care setting at different locations.
• Delivers in-service, and specialty classes for paraprofessionals, which includes demonstration of required skills and assures competency in the required skills prior to placement in a patient’s home.
• Identifies learning needs and revises, and develops curriculum for course content.
• Identifies and communicates HHA performance concerns to the appropriate HHA Supervisor or Clinical Manager.
• Acts as a liaison between the Education Department and Operations staff.
• Creates a safe and respectful environment for HHAs where everyone feels comfortable, valued and heard.
• Collaborates in the development of specialty programs.
• Orients new hires to VNS Health clinical policies, procedures, and performance expectations at the start of employment.
• Participates in the review, analysis, and appraisal of the effectiveness of the HHA Training Program.
• Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:Licenses and Certifications:
License and current registration to practice as a registered professional nurse in New York State required
Education:
Associate's Degree in Nursing required. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred
Work Experience:
Minimum of two years of nursing experience, at least one year of which must be in a state recognized home health care agency. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong facilitation and training skills preferred. Experience supervising and assessing performance of HHAs or other paraprofessionals preferred.
