Responsibilities:

  • Functions as a part of the multidisciplinary oncology team for provision of care to outpatient oncology patients.
  • Provides support and assistance for Chemo Education as needed to patients, nurses, physicians, and other staff.
  • Serves as part of the team for oncology care, including screenings, diagnosis, and treatment and assists with facilitation of patient appointments to care providers.
  • Participates proactively in problem solving and process improvement activities through collaboration with clinical teams using Evidence Based Practices.
  • Demonstrates continued professional growth through goal-setting and participation in educational offerings.
  • Participates in site specific Cancer Care Conferences.
  • Maintains working knowledge of evidenced based practice regarding screenings, surveillance, therapies and treatments for specific disease for the oncology population served.
  • Participates in Cancer Committee.
  • Maintains a teaching and follow up schedule for all new patients or new starts and documents in EMR.
  • Working knowledge of Chemotherapy regimens interactions and side effects.
  • Collaborates with the Infusion Team on patients first day appointment in the Infusion Center.
  • Under direction of supervisor, assist with reporting quality metrics for specific population served.
  • Under direction of supervisor, assist with meeting accreditation standards for oncology specific accreditations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • 5 years minimum Oncology experience, OCN required
  • BSN with 3 years of recent oncology experience preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with computer skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as scheduled teaching appointments or unscheduled as requested by the physician
