Qualifications:

Associate degree or higher, Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Tennessee, Preference for 3 years successful healthcare experience

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Determine, develop, and implement strategies and provide services that promote student health, wellness, and safety in order to maximize educational achievement.

Performance Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

  1. Provide nursing services to students for the purpose of helping each student maintain an optimal state of health to enhance their education.
  2. Provide care coordination and follow up on health related needs of students.
  3. Provide health screenings to students.
  4. Project a positive, professional image of the system at all times.
  5. Monitors student health plans.
  6. Keep informed of current trends/issues in school health.
  7. Administer daily medications and other procedures needed for students to attend school.
  8. Monitor immunization compliance.
  9. Participate in Individual Education Plan, multi-disciplinary and support school team efforts.
  10. Appropriate and timely documentation of charts and reports.
  11. Maintained records and managed clinic environment for quality assurance.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of School Health, Director of Student Services, & Director of Schools.

Tools/Equipment Used:

Standard medical clinic equipment including automated external defibrillator (AED); special needs adaptive equipment; standard office equipment including computer

Posture:

Frequent standing, sitting, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing pulling, and twisting

Motion:

Frequent walking, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension

Lifting:

Frequent light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); may require regular heavy lifting (45 pounds or more) and position of students with physical disabilities; controlling behavior through physical restraint, assisting non-ambulatory students

Environment:

Exposure to biological hazards, bacteria, and communicable diseases

Mental Demands:

Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress
