The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Responsibilities:
CRNAs provide anesthesia services to patients of all ages under the medical direction of members of the faculty of the Department of Anesthesiology of the University of Rochester Medical Center. They are an integral part of the surgical team working closely with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and operating room nurses and other healthcare professionals. They provide anesthesia care for a full range of surgical procedures including: colon/rectal, ENT, gynecology, neurosurgery, ophthalmology, orthopedics, plastics, thoracic, urology, vascular, and general surgery.

Administers/Induces Anesthesia as evidenced by:
Completes and documents pre-anesthesia patient assessment according to current anesthesia standards for any person requiring any form of anesthesia or IV sedation as evidenced by:
Selects appropriate equipment and techniques for use in the accomplishment of goals outlined in the anesthesia care plan/management plan as evidenced by:
Appropriately and effectively administers pharmacological agents.
Terminates the anesthetic and emerges the patient from anesthesia.
Evaluates the attainment of anesthesia care goals.
Completes departmental documentation and post anesthesia rounds.
Assists with starting difficult intravenous lines, inserting difficult arterial lines, obtaining difficult arterial blood gases, performing emergency endotracheal intubation and cardiopulmonary resuscitation throughout the hospital. Acts as a resource for critical care management in the intensive care unit as needed.
Qualifications:
Graduate of an approved school of nursing with a current license to practice in New York State; graduate of a school of nurse anesthesia, accredited by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists.
Current A.A.N.A. membership, active practicing category. (Possession of above is proof that the applicant has passed the national qualifying examination and received initial certification-C.R.N.A.; and is in compliance with the on-going specific requirements for continuing professional education to maintain certification.
