Job Title: Nuclear Engineer V, Mechanical
Location: Nuclear Plants, Ohio
Type: Contract
Compensation: $115.00 per hour
Contractor Work Model: Onsite, per diem is $178 a day.
Responsibilities
- Apply experience in the design and/or operation of PWR and/or BWR plants, including primary and secondary systems.
- Conduct feasibility studies, address equipment reliability issues, and implement system modifications and upgrades to enhance safety and reliability.
- Utilize independent judgment in performing calculations, modifications, and designs, and present and justify modification packages during quality and safety reviews.
- Collaborate with project teams and interface with equipment vendors to evaluate conditions and develop design changes that improve plant performance, safety, and reliability.
- Ensure compliance with codes, standards, and regulations applicable to the nuclear power industry, including NRC requirements.
- Review and check designs, drawings, and data prepared by other engineers.
- Communicate effectively with clients, prepare technical presentations, and participate in client review meetings.
- Perform walk downs of equipment in industrial plant environments, including climbing ladders, accessing security-controlled areas, and entering confined and hazardous spaces.
Requirements
- BS degree in mechanical engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- Minimum of 15 years of experience, including at least 8 years in the commercial nuclear power industry.
- Experience with PWR and/or BWR plant design and operation, including primary and secondary systems.
- Proficiency in performing calculations, feasibility studies, engineering evaluations, and system modifications to improve safety and reliability.
- Experience reviewing and checking designs, drawings, and data prepared by other engineers.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presentation skills for client review boards.
- Proficiency in Mathcad, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Effective time management skills and ability to handle multiple projects concurrently.
- Ability to pass security and drug screening, and maintain unescorted access to commercial nuclear power plants.
- Willingness to travel to client sites and perform on-site field/office work.
- Ability to perform walk downs in industrial environments, including climbing ladders and entering confined spaces.
