The Area
Nome is located on the southern Seward Peninsula coast on the Norton Sound of the Bering Sea. It has a population of 4000. A great place to have an Alaskan adventure.
The Group Norton Sound Health Corporation is organized in six sections: Community Health Services, Hospital Services, Medical Staff, Human Resources, Finance, and Engineering and Capital Projects. The President/CEO and General Counsel report directly to the Board of Directors. Direct reports to the President/CEO include those from the Chief Operations Officer, Medical Director, Compliance Officer, Quality Director, Public Relations, Administration, and Tribal Self-Governance.
The departments under Community Health Services include Village Health Services, Behavioral Health Services, Health Aide Training, Wellness, Office of Environmental Health, Infant Learning Program, and Environmental Services/Laundry. Village Health Services manages village clinic staff, including Community Health Aides and Clinic Travel Clerks. Behavioral Health Services includes Nome staff and Village-Based Counseling. The Wellness department includes CAMP, WIC, Tribal Healing, and Nutrition Services.
The Position
12 month assignment
4 weeks on, 4weeks off
Traveling to regional village clinics
Must have proven primary care and emergency room experience
All ages of patients
5 patients per day
Monday - Friday
8am-5pm
On Call for emergencies (possibly sharing call duties with other providers in the village)
After hours Urgent Care may be required (Triage lines in place to minimize call back)
Provider will reside in a "Call apartment" in the clinicActive Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) license with the State of Alaska
Active BLS & ACLS
ATLS & PALS preferred, but not required
Active DEA registration
COVID vaccination with booster
Minimum 2 years of solo full-spectrum emergency experience
Direct experience with medevac and patient care stabilization including intubations, chest tubes, and complicated airways; must have strong suturing skills
Must be culturally sensitive and willing to embrace the native community and their culture
Travel and lodging provided at no cost to the provider
$950.00 daily rate
$275.00 daily on-call rate (earned every day when on-call)
$1400 holiday daily rate
