The Director, Revenue Cycle - Patient Accounting is responsible for directing and coordinating all aspects of patient financial services. This includes professional and hospital claims billing, cash posting, and management of patient receivables. This role ensures timely, compliant, and accurate billing and collections processes to optimize revenue. Improving patient and customer satisfaction is a key focus. The Director provides strategic leadership and day-to-day operational oversight to maximize cash flow. This includes reducing accounts receivable days and ensuring effective claims adjudication. The position plays a crucial role in monitoring pertinent revenue cycle metrics, including charge lag and denial rates. Collaboration with leadership and physicians is essential to develop and implement best practices in patient accounting. Compliance with all federal, state, and contractual requirements is a fundamental part of this role. The Director directs daily operations of patient accounting, ensuring accurate claim submission and remittance processing. Management of automation tools and Epic workflows is also a critical responsibility. The Director coordinates training for patient accounting staff and promotes adherence to best practices. Monitoring and reporting on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as Days in Accounts Receivable and Clean Claim Rate is expected. Proactive issue identification and performance improvement efforts will be led using Epic dashboards. Collaboration with various departments to resolve billing and collections issues is necessary. Identifying opportunities for automation and improving integration between systems is part of the job. The Director works with compliance teams to monitor workflows for proper controls and documentation. Preparation and management of the departmental budget, along with tracking technology costs, is required. Independent judgment is exercised in making decisions from many diversified alternatives. Direct supervision and performance evaluations of team members are part of the duties. Interactions with patients, customers, and other healthcare professionals will occur frequently.
