Responsibilities

Laurel Heights Hospital located in Atlanta Georgia has 2 RN Night Supervisor positions available. Laurel Heights Hospital is an intensive Residential Treatment/Acute and Autism Spectrum Disorders Program for children and adolescents. We serve and treat severe and complex psychiatric and behavioral difficulties and co-occurring psychiatric issues. We provide a caring, therapeutic setting with various therapeutic modalities and applied behavior analysis services. EOE.

Position Summary:

The Nurse Supervisor - Behavioral Health oversees the clinical and administrative operations of the behavioral health nursing team. This role ensures high-quality patient care, compliance with regulatory standards, and effective coordination among interdisciplinary teams. The supervisor provides leadership, mentorship, and direct support to nursing staff while promoting evidence-based practices in mental health. The nursing supervisor utilizes communication, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making to oversee patient care throughout facility based on physiological, physiological, and cultural diversity. Responsible for supervising and delegating non-professional personnel working directly with him/her to ensure optimum patient care. Works collaboratively with the leadership team to provide a comprehensive range of services for clinical care associated with and in accordance with standards of excellence.-Sign-on Bonus available

Qualifications

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recognizes and reports variances and provides resolutions. Investigate nursing errors on shift, complaints concerning nursing care, patient /visitor accidents and counsel personnel at the time of occurrence or when error is discovered as appropriate.
  • Directs the administration and the operation of the hospital efficiently, effectively and in a professional manner. Notifies administrator on call/management team appropriately as directed by hospital procedure.
  • Rounds on all units to provide oversight and assistance with planning nursing care and evaluating effectiveness of care and problem solving.
  • Demonstrated good judgement in staffing/patient care needs, commiunicates and documents appropriately any changes in staffing/patient care, sick callouts etc.
  • Supervise and coordinate daily activities of psychiatric nurses, technicians, and support staff
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, state and federal regulations, and behavioral health standards
  • Oversee patient care planning, medication administration, and crisis intervention protocols
  • Conduct performance evaluations, staff training, and professional development initiatives
  • Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and case managers to support integrated care models
  • Monitor documentation accuracy and maintain confidentiality of patient records
  • Participate in program development, quality improvement initiatives, and grant compliance
  • Respond to emergencies and provide clinical guidance during high-risk situations
  • Serve as a liaison with external agencies and community partners

Qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) required; master's preferred
  • Minimum 2-4 years of nursing experience in behavioral health or psychiatric settings
  • Prior supervisory or leadership experience strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of behavioral health regulations, trauma-informed care, and crisis management
  • Strong communication, organizational, and conflict-resolution skills
  • CPR and other relevant certifications (e.g., CPI, BLS)

Work Environment:

  • Fast-paced inpatient or outpatient behavioral health setting
  • Evening/Night coverage and weekend rotation required.
  • Exposure to emotionally intense situations and psychiatric emergencies
