JOB OVERVIEW:
The NHBS Field Coordinator is responsible for coordinating a CDC-funded behavioral surveillance research project and anonymous HIV testing among populations at increased risk for HIV exposure.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in developing and conducting formative research in the form of a series of focus groups and other formal interviews.
- Develop and maintain relationships with community-based organizations.
- Participate in CDC site visits, trainings, biweekly project officer meetings, and monthly conference calls.
- Supervise field staff and assist with related matters, such as hiring, training and development, scheduling, and team building.
- Manage operations and data collection; review, tabulate, and reconcile forms and logs used in the field.
- Coordinate HIV and other STD testing operations; ensure proper documentation of HIV testing activities; ensure adherence to HIV testing procedures; ensure adherence to procedures for making referrals to care.
- Ensure adequate preparations, including supplies, materials, and equipment.
- Coordinate ongoing formative assessment efforts and implement changes based upon findings.
- Manage multiple databases, utilizing CDC software and Excel to track relevant metrics.
- Report to the Project Coordinator and Principal Investigator.
- Provide overall field site management.

- Ability to communicate clearly in writing and verbally
- Ability to work independently, as well as with others
- Willingness to ask questions and keep others informed
- Ability to meet deadlines and complete work with minimal supervision
- Strong organizational skills
- Familiarity with spreadsheet applications
- Working knowledge of case definitions for HIV and AIDS
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Prior interviewing experience
- Prior experience with HIV terminology
- Preferred: Certification in PA as an HIV test counselor
SALARY: $50,000
