Job Summary/Description:

Action News 5 is in search of a dynamic anchor/reporter who is ready to work in a modernized, fast-paced newsroom. The ideal candidate will have the ability to cover breaking news, tell compelling stories, and present the news on all platforms. This position requires weekend morning anchoring and reporting 3 days a week. Quality writing and on-air delivery are a must.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Appear on the anchor desk to deliver content in an engaging way in a live linear or streaming format.
  • Cover big, breaking stories with a fluid delivery, many times unscripted.
  • Turn engaging and interesting news packages that can air in all day parts.
  • Develop sources in the community to ensure impactful and unique content.
  • Have flexibility in schedule, including the ability to work mornings and weekends.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • At least 3 years of on-air experience.
  • Bachelors degree in journalism, communications, or a related field.
  • Strong news judgment and the ability to gather information.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with solid knowledge of AP Style.
  • Able to work well under pressure, meet daily deadlines, and handle limited supervision.
  • Highly self-motivated with a proactive mindset and strong sense of initiative.
  • Familiarity with Canva, basic video editing tools, and social media scheduling platforms preferred.
  • A sharp eye for detail and a willingness to learn new and evolving technologies.
  • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
