Job Summary:

This is an entry level novice nurse program for newly graduated nurses. This program is 4-6 months long after which the novice nurse moves to a permanent mentored psychiatric staff nurse position.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Provides direct patient care based on the knowledge of ANA Standards of Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing, Butler Hospital policies and procedures, and the RI Nurse Practice Act.
  • Participates in treatment planning to coordinate management of medical and nursing care and discharge planning of their patients.
  • Coordinates Psychiatric and/or Medical emergencies in such a manner that assures that the individual in crisis is properly cared for and that all other patients are safe.
  • Participates as an active team member by assisting other staff and accepting additional assignments to complete essential patient care and unit responsibilities.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of accredited school of nursing.
  • B.S.N preferred.
  • Rhode Island Registered Nurse License.
