Job Opportunity: Physician for Sub-Chapter II Medical Board
Our organization is in search of a qualified Physician specializing in Psychiatry to join the Sub-Chapter II Medical Board.
Position Overview
The selected candidate will operate with minimal supervision, engaging in professional activities at a full-performance level. Responsibilities will include:
- Assessing and evaluating medical evidence to determine eligibility for disability benefits in accordance with the New York City Administrative Code.
- Conducting interviews and examinations of fund members applying for Disability Retirement.
- Preparing comprehensive medical reports that summarize findings and provide recommendations.
- Reviewing the evaluations conducted by other examiners.
The role may require attendance 1-2 days each week, with compensation set at $275 per hour.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Expertise in Psychiatry.
- Familiarity with federal, New York State, and New York City laws and regulations related to government policies, regulatory codes, and legal guidelines.
- Understanding of occupational medicine.
- Ability to summarize, analyze, synthesize, and interpret intricate medical data.
- Proficiency in drafting written communications and quasi-legal documents.
- Capability to establish and maintain professional relationships.
- Skill in analyzing and evaluating pertinent facts and findings related to claims adjudication.
- Ability to articulate ideas clearly and concisely.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be a Board-Certified Psychiatrist and possess a valid license in New York State.
- A minimum of three years of experience as a Disability Evaluation Specialist or in a related field.
