FULL DESCRIPTION:We are seeking a New Process Development (NPD) Engineer to lead the development of manufacturing and assembly processes for Low Earth Orbit (LEO) electronic fuse components. This is a process engineering role — not a product R&D position — focused on developing, characterizing, and qualifying the processes by which LEO fuse hardware is built, tested, and delivered to flight-ready standards. The successful candidate will own the full process development lifecycle from process requirements capture through process verification and handoff to NPI.

The selected candidate will be responsible for:
  • Lead the development and characterization of manufacturing and assembly processes for LEO fuse electronic components, from process concept through process verification
  • Translate product and program requirements into detailed process specifications, control plans, and qualification criteria
  • Develop and validate process flows for fuse circuit assembly, including soldering, integration, safing/arming handling, and test procedures
  • Select and qualify process materials, tooling, and equipment suitable for space-grade and safety-critical fuse manufacturing
  • Perform process failure mode and effects analysis (PFMEA), process capability studies (Cpk/Ppk), and statistical process control (SPC) implementation
  • Execute and support process qualification testing including environmental, thermal, and reliability screening
  • Develop process validation plans, test procedures, and qualification matrices; analyze and disposition results
  • Collaborate with systems engineers, mechanical engineers, and NPI teams to ensure process intent is maintained through production transition
  • Maintain process documentation including process specifications, control plans, qualification reports, and drawing packages
  • Interface with customers and program managers during process-related design reviews (PDR, CDR, TRR)

The selected candidate will also possess:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Science, or closely related field
  • 5+ years of experience in process engineering or process development for aerospace, defense, or space applications — not product R&D
  • Hands-on experience developing and qualifying manufacturing processes for electronic fuse, initiator drive, or safety-critical component hardware
  • Familiarity with LEO orbital environment requirements as they relate to process and material selection (radiation, thermal cycling, vacuum)
  • Experience with space-grade process qualification, lot traceability, and process approval requirements
  • Proficiency with process engineering tools: PFMEA, SPC, DOE (Design of Experiments), and process capability analysis
  • Working knowledge of process qualification standards (MIL-STD, ECSS) and FMEA methodologies
  • Experience supporting process reviews at program milestones (PDR/CDR)
  • Active DoD security clearance strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with ITAR/EAR compliance and NASA/DoD space program process standards (MIL-STD, ECSS, NASA-STD)

Salary Range: $120,000 – 160,000/year
