Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Outpatient Neurology Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant, you will join our well-established hospital-employed group at CommonSpirit Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga, TN. Every day you will focus on providing specialized care, working closely with physicians and other team members to assess, diagnose, and treat disorders of stroke and vascular neurological conditions. You will be pivotal in performing clinic consultations for hospital follow-up for post-stroke and TIA patients, including those who have previously received IV thrombolytic, mechanical thrombectomy, aneurysm embolization, or other neurosurgical procedures. As part of CommonSpirit Memorial, a faith-based, not-for-profit organization and proud member of CommonSpirit Health, you will contribute to a continuum of care that includes specialized services in neuroscience and stroke, reflecting our unwavering commitment to excellence.

To be successful in this role, you will be an Outpatient Neurology Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant with a strong focus on stroke and vascular neurological disorders, and a commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care.

  • Performing comprehensive assessments, diagnoses, and treatment plans for patients with stroke and vascular neurological disorders.
  • Conducting specialized clinic consultations for hospital follow-up, particularly for post-stroke and TIA patients.
  • Managing patients who have undergone advanced procedures such as IV thrombolytic, mechanical thrombectomy, aneurysm embolization, or other neurosurgical interventions.
  • Collaborating effectively with neurologists, neurosurgeons, and other multidisciplinary team members to ensure integrated patient care.
  • Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests relevant to neurological conditions.
  • Providing comprehensive patient education on their condition, treatment plans, and preventative strategies.
  • Maintaining accurate and timely electronic medical records, ensuring thorough documentation of all patient encounters.
  • Adhering to all hospital policies, procedures, and patient safety protocols.

Job Requirements

Required

  • Graduate of a MSN Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant training Program
  • Ability to obtain a Tennessee NP and RN license(s), or Tennessee Physician Assistant license.
  • AHA BLS

Preferred

  • Two years experience as a full-time Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant, preferably in outpatient neurology / neurosurgery
