About this position: Network Technician                     Location – Anchorage, AK

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Install and terminate Cat5e/6/6a cabling, fiber, and associated infrastructure for cameras, access control, and VTC endpoints.
  • Mount and configure IP security cameras (fixed, PTZ, thermal, etc.) and integrate with Video Management Systems (VMS).
  • Deploy and program access control systems (door controllers, readers, biometrics, electrified hardware).
  • Set up and calibrate video teleconferencing equipment (cameras, microphones, displays, room panels) for platforms such as Zoom Rooms, Microsoft Teams Rooms, Cisco, Poly, and Crestron.
  • Integrate all devices onto the network with proper IP addressing, VLANs, QoS, and PoE configurations.
  • Diagnose and resolve connectivity, performance, and interoperability issues.
  • Support IT and RF projects including network infrastructure upgrades, wireless LAN deployments, point-to-point microwave links, two-way radio systems, antennas, and RF cabling.
  • Perform site surveys, RF coverage testing, preventive maintenance, firmware updates, and documentation (as-builts, cable maps).
  • Provide end-user training and Tier-2 technical support.
  • Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours support and emergency response.

 

Required (Minimum Necessary) Qualifications

  • Education Requirements: High school diploma required.
  • Level of Experience Requirements: 3+ years of hands-on experience installing and supporting IP cameras, access control, video conferencing, and/or RF/wireless systems.
  • Solid knowledge of IP networking (TCP/IP, subnets, VLANs, routing, switching, PoE).
  • Experience with RF fundamentals: signal strength testing, coax/fiber termination, antenna alignment.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

  • Proficiency with tools: cable certifiers, tone generators, OTDR, multimeters, RF power meters, and basic power tools.
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and RF site plans.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in hybrid IT/RF environments.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.

 

Preferred

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in IT, Electronics, Telecommunications, or related field.
  • Manufacturer certifications (Axis, Bosch, LenelS2, Crestron, Cisco, Poly, etc.).
  • CompTIA Network+, Security+, or CCNA; RF/Wireless certifications (CWNA, etc.).
  • Experience with wireless controllers, two-way radio systems (Motorola), or microwave backhaul.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • This position will not have supervisory responsibilities.

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, work at heights (ladders, rooftops, towers), and in confined spaces.

  • Ability to sit for extended periods along with periodic standing and walking short distances.
  • Proficiency in using standard office equipment, including keyboards and computers.
  • Close visual acuity and ability to hear in a typical office environment.

 

Work Environment

Physical Setting: Mix of warehouse/shop, office, and field/construction sites (Anchorage and remote locations).

Schedule and Flexibility: Standard hours (8am to 5pm) with occasional after-hours, on-call, and travel to remote or field locations.

Other Pertinent Work Details: Active construction environments, outdoor and indoor work, and occasional exposure to varying weather conditions.

 

Additional Qualifying Factors

As a condition of employment, you will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening and have acceptable background check results. If applicable to the contract, you must also obtain and maintain the appropriate clearance levels required and must also be able to obtain access to military installations.
