Primary Purpose:
Administer and operate the district's network systems. Collaborate with various departments and vendors to install and maintain network equipment and applications. The administrator's duties will include, but not be limited to, provisioning, installation, configuration, testing, and oversight of all network-related systems and hardware. Monitor all district networking equipment, software, and hardware, including maintenance of physical network closets, data centers, and related equipment (generators, uninterruptible power systems, climate control, etc.). Additionally, the administrator will provide backup support for other systems administrators.

Major Responsibilities and Duties
Evaluate construction documents for new buildings to verify network infrastructure is appropriately planned and documented.
Ability to understand, create, and maintain network documentation, including maps, rack elevations, and designs for new and existing sites.
Maintain networking standards and Prosper ISD standards from the configuration aspect to the physical plant of networking.
Serve as a liaison with vendors to gather product information, prepare requests for quotes and bills of materials (BOM), and understand product roadmaps.
Install, configure, and support network equipment, including but not limited to switches, routers, wireless controllers and access points, firewalls, content filters, UPS, etc.
Maintain and update operating systems and firmware for network equipment.
Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve network hardware, software, and system issues in a timely manner.
Design solutions for networked devices, applications, and systems as required by other departments within the district.
Secure network devices and systems through the use of policies, hardened configurations, password management, and design.
Work with other systems administrators to ensure the physical security devices and VOIP phones are connected and functioning properly.
Technical Support
Serve as liaison as assigned by the Director of Technology Network Services to software and hardware vendors to maintain appropriate product support.
Develop and maintain system documentation for configuration and customizations.
Provide assistance to end users and technical staff in identifying and correcting equipment- and software-related problems.
Other
Identify and recommend the acquisition of software and hardware to meet the automation and networking needs of district users.
Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rules, and local board policy.
Respond to after-hours emergencies as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Technology Network Services.

Repetitive hand motions and the prolonged use of computer equipment will be required. Lifting and moving heavy equipment; stooping, bending, and kneeling may be required. Additionally, occasional prolonged and irregular hours may be required. Some duties may require on-call availability after normal business hours and on weekends.
