About the Position
This is a time limited position with the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency and we are seeking a highly skilled Network Infrastructure Specialist I for a Non-State Service and Time-Limited position. This is a first-level network and communication position that typically works within the framework of established operating procedures and in close cooperation with internal and external network support providers to troubleshoot and maintain network and communication user devices and links. Typically focuses on network operations in a WAN/LAN environment, including data and voice. Within approved standards, place orders for network equipment. Modifies configuration settings and components and installs network cabling and fiber. Implements basic firewalls and routers. Monitors routine network performance. Conducts simple analysis and documentation of configuration management. Prepares documentation for all actions taken. Implements backup configuration. Key Responsibilities: Network Operations: Use your experience to oversee and maintain network systems, including hardware and software components, across multiple platforms. Ensure the effective operation of LAN and WAN configurations. Troubleshooting & Maintenance: Collaborate with internal and external support providers to diagnose and resolve network issues. Address and manage problems related to network and communication user devices and links. System Monitoring: Continuously monitor network use, capacity, and performance. Identify and address potential issues to ensure optimal network functionality. Enhancements & Recommendations: Assess current network systems and make recommendations for improvements. Implement approved changes and enhancements to optimize network performance. Installation & Implementation: As required, oversee the installation and configuration of new network and communication equipment or software and ensure smooth integration with existing systems. Network Security: Maintain robust network security measures and ensure adequate data backup processes to protect against data loss and unauthorized access. *Please note this position is with the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency (MEMA), and all MEMA positions can be called back to work outside the standard work schedule.
