Description

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a a Network Engineer to support a growing industrial technology organization as it continues expanding through acquisitions across North America. This role is Hybrid, on-site in Washington D.C. 3 days/week, and requires roughly 50% travel.

This is a highly visible infrastructure engineering opportunity for someone who enjoys designing, integrating, securing, and optimizing enterprise network environments while playing a key role in long-term IT modernization efforts. The ideal candidate brings strong enterprise networking expertise, experience supporting multi-site environments, and the ability to lead complex network integration projects.

Responsibilities of the Network Engineer:

  • Assess the network infrastructure of newly acquired organizations and develop integration plans aligned with corporate standards.
  • Design, implement, and support enterprise LAN/WAN, SD-WAN, wireless, VPN, and firewall solutions to ensure high availability, security, and performance.
  • Partner with managed service providers to maintain enterprise firewalls, intrusion prevention systems (IPS), and network access controls.
  • Collaborate with Systems Administrators to integrate Active Directory environments while supporting secure authentication, replication, and hybrid cloud connectivity.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve complex network issues through proactive monitoring, incident response, and root cause analysis.
  • Evaluate opportunities to improve network reliability, scalability, security, and overall infrastructure performance.
  • Manage relationships with network hardware vendors, internet service providers, and managed service providers.
  • Develop and maintain network diagrams, technical documentation, and standard operating procedures.
  • Work closely with infrastructure, cloud, and cybersecurity teams to support enterprise connectivity and strategic technology initiatives.
  • Assist with infrastructure planning, budgeting, capacity planning, and long-term network roadmaps.

Qualifications for the Network Engineer:

  • Bachelor''s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • 7+ years of experience managing enterprise network infrastructure within multi-site environments.
  • Experience leading network integrations, acquisitions, infrastructure migrations, or large-scale network modernization projects.
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise networking concepts, including the OSI model.
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise firewalls, routing, switching, wireless networking, VPN technologies, and network monitoring tools.
  • Experience supporting VMware and/or Hyper-V virtualization environments.
  • Understanding of cloud service models and hybrid cloud connectivity between on-premises infrastructure and cloud environments.
  • Proven ability to lead technical projects, manage timelines, and collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% to support network integration efforts across multiple locations.

Compensation for the Network Engineer:

  • Salary Range: $120,000 - $140,000 depending on experience
