Job Duration: 12 Months of contract
Project Overview:
In 2026, the IT Network Services team has several digitization projects and work efforts, including but not limited to: * Digital Worker Connect (DW Connect) Communications Backbone Project.
* Core IT Infrastructure.
* LEM.
* NYPA Cloud Migration Activities.
* Upgrade Operations Turrets & Call Manager.
* Conducting technology reviews of wireless systems.
* Reviewing and analyzing wireless survey results.
* Consulting and coordinating with site resources for optimal Wireless Access Point (WAP) placement.
* Planning and executing deployment activities.
* Building and deploying new Wireless Access Points (WAPs) and Wireless LAN Controllers (WLCs.)
* Researching and evaluating Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS.)
Job Functions & Responsibilities:Installation: * Install new hardware or software systems or components, ensuring integration with existing network systems.
* Install or repair network cables, including fiber optic cables.
* Install network software, including security or firewall software.
* Install and configure wireless networking equipment.
Problem Resolution: * Work with vendors to diagnose and resolve network problems.
* Operate and configure protocol analyzers to diagnose issues.
* Analyze captured data using network protocols.
* Utilize network monitoring software to identify conditions requiring corrective action or performance tuning.
Collaboration: * Assist with the integration, maintenance, and resolution of network services and wiring infrastructures.
* Collaborate with networking and telecommunications staff, user support teams, vendors, end-users, NYPA contractors, and guests.
Record Keeping: * Maintain accurate records of network components, maintenance activities, network connections, accounts, and inventory.
Programming:Program network applications as required, including: * Web applications
* Network monitoring solutions
* Bandwidth utilization tracking
* General data collection and reporting
* Automated responses to abnormal or undesirable network conditions
General Duties: * Contribute to the overall success of Information Services by performing all other essential duties as assigned.
Required Skills: * Proven experience as a Network Analyst, Network Administrator, or similar role.
* Strong knowledge of network protocols, routing, switching, and firewall configurations.
* Experience with network monitoring tools and software such as SolarWinds, OpManager, and Splunk.
* Familiarity with network security practices and frameworks, including NIST and CIS.
* Experience with ticketing systems such as ServiceNow.
* Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Experience with cloud-based network solutions, including AWS, Azure, or GCP.
* Knowledge of virtualization technologies such as VMware and Hyper-V.
Education & Certifications: * Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical or business discipline.
* Minimum of 5 years of quality technical experience, or a minimum of 10 years of directly related experience for non-degree holders.
