Day to day as a Network Administrator II (WAN)
In the role of Network Administrator II (WAN) at Gray Link Technologies LLC, you will play a critical part in supporting and maintaining the enterprise WAN infrastructure essential for U.S. Air Force operations. Your daily activities will involve installing, configuring, troubleshooting, patching, and hardening routers, switches, load balancers, and serial console devices throughout the network. You will actively monitor circuit utilization and bandwidth, performing traffic analysis to identify anomalies that may affect network performance and mission success.
Working in both production environments and virtual or physical lab settings, you will validate configurations and troubleshoot issues prior to implementation. Maintaining thorough documentation of incidents and change requests is vital, as is escalating complex challenges to senior engineers when necessary. Additionally, you will contribute to automation efforts through scripting and ensure proper cable management, coordinating equipment movements while collaborating closely with government team leads for compliant and reliable network operations.
