NetApp Storage SME (Consultant) – Remote
Contract Role
 
Position Summary
 
This position is responsible for advanced administration and support of enterprise storage.  This role focuses on NetApp storage environments (FAS, ONTAP), multi-vendor storage platforms, and cross-platform system administration. The consultant ensures high availability, performance optimization, and operational excellence, while supporting ITIL-based service management processes.
 
Key Responsibilities
 
Storage & Infrastructure Management
 
  • Administer and support NetApp FAS systems and NetApp ONTAP environments
  • Provide advanced support for NAS and SAN architectures, including provisioning, zoning, and performance optimization
  • Manage EMC storage platforms and interoperable storage environments
  • Perform capacity planning, replication, backup integration, and disaster recovery setup
  • Use NetApp Active IQ Unified Manager (AIQUM) for proactive monitoring, performance analysis, alerting, and reporting
  • Troubleshoot complex storage issues and implement performance tuning improvements
  • Identity & Authentication
 
Configure and support authentication protocols including:
  • Kerberos
  • LDAP
  • Integrate infrastructure systems with directory services and access control frameworks
  • IT Service Management (ITSM)
 
Support ITIL processes including:
  • Incident Management – timely diagnosis and resolution of infrastructure incidents
  • Problem Management – root cause analysis and implementation of permanent fixes
  • Utilize ServiceNow ITSM for ticket tracking, workflow automation, and reporting
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for incidents, changes, and system configurations
 
Required Qualifications
 
  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5-7 years of experience in infrastructure and storage
  • Strong hands-on experience with:
  • NetApp ONTAP and NetApp FAS
  • NetApp Active IQ Unified Manager (AIQUM) monitoring and analytics
  • SAN/NAS storage environments
  • Windows Server and Linux (Red Hat) administration
  • Experience supporting EMC storage systems
  • Proficiency with Microsoft PowerShell scripting
 
Preferred Qualifications
 
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow ITSM platform and ITIL processes
  • Knowledge of enterprise authentication protocols (Kerberos, LDAP)
  • Relevant certifications (preferred):
  • NetApp Certified Professional (NCDA/NCIE)
  • Microsoft Certified
  • Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE)

  • Strong knowledge of storage performance and monitoring tools (AIQUM)
  • Ability to manage complex, multi-platform environments
