Position Title NCPR Southern Adirondacks / Community Engagement Reporter FLSA Exempt Primary Responsibilities
North Country Public Radio is seeking a creative, ambitious, and talented reporter to join our award-winning, nationally recognized news team. This position is centered in Glens Falls, NY, a growing city with tons of new energy, reporting stories from places across the southern Adirondacks and Champlain Valley, from Ticonderoga to Minerva to North Creek to Lake George. Join a hardworking news team working in a geographically diverse region, from rolling hills and farmland in the St. Lawrence River and Thousand Islands, to the Adirondack Mountains, the Tug Hill Plateau, and Akwesasne Mohawk territory.
We tell the stories of the people who live in our region in eye- and ear-catching ways, challenging our assumptions and nurturing our curiosity. We dig deep and seek out the voices of people who havent been heard from a range of backgrounds. Our news team is a supportive and creative group of people who nurture each other. Headquartered at St. Lawrence University in Canton, NY, NCPR is in a beautiful part of the country, including the Adirondack Mountains, the St. Lawrence River, Lake Champlain, Fort Drum Army base, Akwesasne Mohawk territory, and nearby urban areas in Burlington, Vermont, and Ottawa and Montreal, Canada.
Our reporters cover the critical issues facing our communities, including criminal justice and prison reform, policing, border and immigration, economic development, rural health care, agriculture, climate change, native issues, and much more.
Primary Responsibilities include:
NOTE: This position is based in Glens Falls. This is a remote work position with occasional travel and work time in the main NCPR headquarters station in Canton, N.Y.
