  • Advances student retention and graduation by providing student support as part of the Empowering Futures navigator network through collaboration with campus and community partners. Engages expertise with targeted student populations to encourage sense of belonging, thriving, and success. Assists individuals managing and navigating distress, crisis and anxiety.

Major Duties

  • Collaborates with other University units and community partners to develop and implement resolutions for students.
  • Makes and maintains connections with students of concern, providing support, resources, and information as appropriate. Provides outreach through email, phone, and in-person meetings.
  • Provides support to help students navigate all aspects of entry, assimilation, retention, and graduation related to college life. Performs periodic assessments and monitors student progress. Promotes the personal and academic success and well-being of students with emphasis on historically marginalized communities, low-income, and first-generation students.
  • Develops the computer system that serves as a database for student information and as a communication channel for the department.
  • Responsible for data management for program assessment and performance. Develops, prepares, and maintains student data. Evaluates and recommends improvements to program operations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.
  • Three years' relevant experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with word-processing and spreadsheet software.
  • Experience using and querying databases.
  • Experience providing guidance to students and other constituents.
  • Demonstrated experience as a strong student advocate.
  • Ability to collaborate with others.
  • Experience in human development, community development or social work.
  • Demonstrated interest, skills, and experience working with diverse groups.
  • Ability to interact with students and other constituents both in-person and virtual.
