Traveling Maintenance Supervisor (National Crew)

Based in St. Louis, MO (Nationwide Travel Required)

Overview

Monarch Investment & Management Group is seeking a Traveling Maintenance Supervisor to join our National Traveling Crew. This role is ideal for a hands-on professional who enjoys problem-solving, leading teams, and traveling across the country. You'll support apartment communities that need additional expertise-working alongside a skilled team to complete repairs, unit turns, and large-scale property improvements.

Travel Schedule

  • 3 weeks traveling (out of state)
  • 1 week off at home
  • Assignments across 79,000+ units in 25 states

Compensation

  • $60,000 - $65,000 annually
  • Consistent 50-hour work weeks (overtime available)
  • $50/day per diem while traveling
  • Annual raises up to 5%

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct property inspections and evaluate work areas, assigning follow-up actions as needed (curb appeal, shop organization, equipment, turn boards, work orders, etc.)
  • Diagnose and repair HVAC, electrical, plumbing, appliances, carpentry, and drywall
  • Support property operations including unit turns, work orders, grounds, snow removal, and pool maintenance
  • Perform interior and exterior painting and staining
  • Lead and complete capital improvement projects, including rehabs and major repairs
  • Manage third-party vendors, including obtaining and evaluating bids
  • Uphold Monarch's professional standards and promote company culture
  • Complete additional duties and special projects as assigned

Qualifications

  • HVAC, Pool, and OSHA certifications required
  • 6+ years of maintenance experience, including 3+ years in multi-family housing
  • Experience managing maintenance for 500+ units and supervising 6+ team members

Technical Skills:

  • Budget management (reading, creating, and managing)
  • Drywall, painting, and carpentry
  • Plumbing (including sweating copper pipe)
  • Electrical systems (outlets, switches, fixtures)
  • Appliance troubleshooting (refrigerators, stoves, dishwashers, disposals)
  • HVAC and/or boiler systems
  • Electric and gas water heaters

Core Competencies:

  • Adaptable in fast-paced environments
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Clear and effective communication
  • Problem-solving and conflict resolution

Candidates may be asked to demonstrate basic maintenance skills during the interview process.

Requirements

  • Ability to travel for extended periods (3 weeks at a time)
  • Valid driver's license preferred
  • Must pass background check and drug screening
