MUSIC TEACHER FOR YOUNG KIDS
Bach to Rock Herndon | $17–$25/hr | Flexible afternoons, evenings, Saturdays

YOU ARE A MUSICIAN

You sing in tune. You can sit at a piano or pick up a guitar and lead "Wheels on the Bus" without thinking. You're comfortable in front of a crowd, even if that crowd is six four-year-olds and their parents. You also know that pure performing doesn't pay the bills, and the gig calendar is unpredictable. You're looking for steady, predictable, part-time teaching work that fits around the rest of your musical life.

We have that work.

THE GIG

Bach to Rock Herndon runs four early childhood music programs for kids ages 1 through 7 and their families. We need a musician to lead these classes | 4 to 8 of them per week, depending on your availability and our class schedule.

ROCK N ROLL (ages 1–3) | parent-and-child class, 45 min, sing-alongs, story time, instrument exploration
ROCK CITY® (ages 3–5) | preschool group class, 45 min, storytelling-based music exploration
KIDS N KEYS (ages 5–7) | group piano class, 45 min, basic finger placement, simple songs
FUN WITH MUSIC (ages 6–7) | multi-instrument exploration class for early elementary kids

You'll be assigned a mix based on your strengths and what's enrolled.

WHO WE NEED

You probably check most of these boxes:

You're functionally proficient on piano AND at least one of: guitar, ukulele, voice. You can accompany simple children's songs without sweating it.
You sing in tune with confidence. You'll sing a LOT in this role.
You can read sheet music and chord charts. You can transpose simple things on the fly.
You have at least some experience with young children | could be teaching, camp counseling, music ministry, parenting, summer camp, family ESL classes, anything that put you in front of kids ages 1–7 in a teaching/leading capacity.
You can reliably commute to our studio in Herndon (WorldGate Centre, just off the Dulles Toll Road).
You're 18+, can pass a background check, and authorized to work in the U.S.

BONUS POINTS (NOT REQUIRED)

- Music Education degree (B.M.E. or M.M.E.)
- Performance degree from a conservatory
- Active gigging experience (band, ensemble, solo, session work)
