Music Faculty-SWSE Director
College faculty members support student success by facilitating learning within and outside the classroom, on campus and online, and by modeling Christian discipleship holistically, especially in the life of the mind.
Position: Music Faculty
Classification: Full-Time, Faculty Member, 42-Week
Supervisor: Vice President for Academic Affairs and designated Division Chair
Supervises: NA
Responsibilities
- Teach music courses as assigned by the division chair
- Contribute to curriculum development as assigned/initiated
- Advise students as assigned by the division
- Maintain appropriate availability to students
- Participate in divisional governance
- Participate at appropriate levels in the discovery, acquisition, development, application and transmission of knowledge
- Appropriately contribute to the intellectual, spiritual and social life of campus
- Serve on institutional committees as assigned
- Participate in academic governance as a core (voting) faculty member
- Engage in GBSC's spiritual life
Qualifications
Required
- Demonstrates spiritual maturity, maintaining a vibrant and healthy personal relationship with God
- Understands and is in harmony with the mission and objectives of GBSC
- Holds an earned graduate degree(s) appropriate for the academic assignment or meets appropriate alternate qualifying criteria
- Demonstrates strong pedagogical skills
- Possesses the capacity to carry out all faculty responsibilities, including teaching, professional service and academic advising
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships; demonstrates a commitment to teamwork
Preferred
- Applicants who hold an accredited doctorate or master's degree in music education are preferred.
- Candidates with demonstrated excellence in college-level teaching and experience in academic advising are preferred.
- Candidates with experience in program assessment, accreditation processes, and program development are preferred.
