The City of Northglenn, is seeking a highly motivated and outgoing Municipal Sanitation Services Supervisor HIRING RANGE: $85,000 - $95,000 DOE Position Highlights: The Municipal Services Sanitation Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the sanitation division, including the management of waste collection, disposal, and recycling services within the municipality. This role involves supervising staff, ensuring compliance with local laws and environmental regulations, and optimizing efficiency in the delivery of sanitation services to the community. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a comprehensive understanding of sanitation systems, and a commitment to maintaining a clean and sustainable environment. This position is a vital member of the Public Works team and contributes directly to maintaining a clean, safe, and sustainable city environment. Any one position may not include all the duties listed nor do the listed examples include all tasks which may be found in positions of this class.) Supervision & Leadership: Supervise, train, and evaluate sanitation staff, including waste collection teams, drivers, and other related personnel. Actively update and maintain the sanitation schedule. Ensure safe work practices and compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations. Develop schedules and coordinate staff assignments to ensure timely and efficient waste collection and disposal. Complete bi-weekly time sheet verification according to the schedule and sign off on time sheets. Ensure staff attend mandatory city events, training, and safety meetings by editing the schedule so all staff can attend and routes are still completed on time. Other duties as assigned. Operations Management: Oversee the operation of sanitation vehicles and equipment, ensuring proper maintenance and functionality. Monitor daily operations to ensure service standards are met and customer complaints are addressed promptly. Maintain and manage inventory of supplies and equipment necessary for sanitation operations. Maintain a clean working environment including equipment and storage locations. Demo and make recommendations of new equipment to include trash carts, trash trucks, and specialized equipment. Make recommendations on the city's website for sanitation and ensure the website is updated and accurate. Compliance & Regulations: Ensure all sanitation activities adhere to municipal codes, local laws, and environmental standards. Keep abreast of waste disposal regulations and ensure that staff comply with waste segregation, recycling, and disposal requirements. Liaise with government agencies, environmental organizations, and contractors regarding waste management initiatives. Budgeting & Resource Management: Assist in the preparation of the sanitation division's budget and ensure proper allocation of resources. Make recommendations on purchase orders and contracts as it relates to sanitation. Monitor expenditures and optimize resource use to meet financial goals without compromising service quality. Customer Service & Community Engagement: Address public inquiries and resolve issues related to sanitation services in a timely manner. Provide education to the community on proper waste management practices, recycling programs, and environmental initiatives. Collaborate with other departments to implement city-wide cleanliness campaigns and programs. Reporting & Documentation: Maintain accurate records of waste collection data, staff attendance, equipment maintenance, and other operational metrics. Prepare and submit regular reports to management on program performance, budget status, and service issues. Education and Experience Qualifications: Education: High school diploma or equivalent (required). Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in waste management, sanitation services, or a related field, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or leadership role. Experience working in municipal services or public works is highly desirable. Skills & Abilities: Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills. Knowledge of municipal waste management processes, recycling programs, and environmental laws. Ability to manage a diverse team and resolve conflicts effectively. Proficiency in using relevant software for scheduling, reporting, and operational management (e.g., Microsoft Office, routing software). Certifications Valid CDL Class B driver's license with a clean driving record. Supplemental Information Working Conditions: This is a full-time, non-exempt position, with occasional evening, weekend and holiday work required based on operational needs. Work is primarily performed in both office and outdoor environments, which may include exposure to varying weather conditions. Occasional lifting and manual labor may be required. Eligible for full benefit package including medical, dental, life and LTD insurance; pension and general leave and optional benefits. Regular Part-Time 30+ Employee works in a position that is classified as 30+ hours per week. City pays contribution toward employee only medical and dental insurance. Employee can pay the difference to cover spouse and/or children. Life & LTD insurance coverage is provided. Employee participates in the Citys pension plan and the City contributes to the plan.
