Position Description

Advertised Job Summary

The University of South Carolina Division of Marketing is currently seeking a Multimedia and Videography Coordinator who will work to enhance the academic reputation of the university by building and telling the university brand story through visually engaging and compelling videography. In collaboration with partners across the Division of Marketing, the coordinator develops and delivers superior video products through the use of visuals, music, audio, and graphics that align and support the brand platform. The coordinator manages the video process from start to finish, including, shooting, editing, production and final delivery.

Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in a job related field and 1 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.

Required Certification, Licensure/Other Credentials Preferred Qualifications Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Ability to handle deadlines, multi-tasking, schedule changes, equipment issues and other stresses effectively and efficiently.
  • Ability to be self-reliant and have excellent analytical skills.
  • Ability to understand and adhere to high professional and ethical standards and conduct. Demonstrate leadership skills with professionalism.
  • Ability to research, devise and evaluate methods for collecting and analyzing data.

Job Duties

Job Duty

Digital Asset Management: Regularly contributes brand platform relevant photos and b-roll video to the DAM based on cadence set by supervisor and/or DAM manager. Works closely with the digital asset manager to ensure all digital assets are properly archived, including tagging and file location.

Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 10 Job Duty

Production Management: Researches and proposes potential photography and video topics that align with the Division of Marketing and University objectives. Includes rough timeline, resources and outside support needed (if any). Works with Project Lead/Project Manager to create timeline and track progress. Schedules, tracks and plans assigned projects. Coordinates with other team members and vendors. Must be able to retouch photography to University standards.

Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 20 Job Duty

Video Production: Produces videos that align with the brand platform and support academic and administrative units, including long form research videos. Manages all aspects of production including planning, writing, shooting, editing and distribution: Leads the story boarding/scripting process to ensure project objectives and brand alignment are achieved; Engages brand teams and unit communicators for assistance and support throughout the production process, including but not limited to shoot coordination, scouting locations, and art direction; Ensures that video and audio is captured clearly and blends the video, audio, graphics and music into a final professional product; Creates b-roll packages as appropriate and includes them with final packages to the client; Uploads videos to appropriate channels for distribution; Properly handles and stores all university-issued equipment. Must be able to capture still photography from shoots in addition to video. Collaborates with other Creative Services videographers, photographers, designers and other office staff on university-level projects. Supports other Division colleagues (e.g. Social) at university-level events when capacity allows. Must be available some nights and weekends.

Training and standards management: In collaboration with other Division of Marketing videographers: Serves as a training and guidance resource on videography needs for the office and across campus; identifies, develops and maintains video standards.

Inside Carolina Editor: Acts as editor of Inside Carolina, which may include but is not limited to post-production editing, sound, and graphic creation and editing. Contributes ideas for show topics. On set support as needed.
