Job Summary: 

The Specialist Level Multi-Craft Technician serves as a senior technical resource responsible for advanced troubleshooting, repair, installation, optimization, and preventive maintenance of complex manufacturing equipment and facility systems.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs advanced installation, setup, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of complex production machinery and facility equipment involving electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and automation systems.
  • Leads root cause analysis activities for equipment failures, recurring downtime events, and process inefficiencies; develops and implements corrective and preventive actions.
  • Troubleshoots high-voltage systems up to 480V 3-phase, DC systems, motor controls, and low-voltage control circuits using advanced diagnostic equipment.
  • Reads, interprets, and modifies electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, PIDs, technical manuals, and OEM documentation.
  • Performs precision alignment, calibration, and installation of equipment utilizing advanced measuring tools and testing instruments.
  • Supports and executes predictive and preventive maintenance programs to maximize equipment uptime and reliability.
  • Performs advanced machine repairs including fabrication, welding, machining, and custom modification of equipment components as needed.
  • Assists in commissioning, startup, validation, and optimization of new equipment and process improvements.
  • Collaborates with Engineering, Production, Quality, and Maintenance teams to improve equipment performance, safety, throughput, and product quality.
  • Supports troubleshooting and optimization of thermoforming, extrusion, and related manufacturing processes when applicable.
  • Utilizes CMMS systems to document maintenance activities, analyze trends, and manage work orders and spare parts inventory.
  • Recommends and implements continuous improvement initiatives focused on reliability, energy efficiency, safety, and cost reduction.
  • Ensures compliance with all safety procedures, lockout/tagout practices, electrical standards, and company policies.
  • Maintains housekeeping and organization in all assigned work areas to support a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Participates in emergency response activities and supports plant operations during equipment failures and critical production events.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical degree or industrial maintenance certification preferred.
  • Minimum 7–10 years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of electrical theory, motor controls, power distribution.  
  • Extensive experience troubleshooting PLC-controlled equipment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with advanced knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical power transmission systems.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair complex equipment failures with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient in the use of precision measuring devices, electrical testing equipment, and industrial maintenance tools.
  • Experience reading and interpreting electrical schematics, ladder logic, mechanical blueprints, and technical specifications.
  • Welding, fabrication, and machining experience preferred.
  • Experience with CMMS software and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience in thermoforming, extrusion, packaging, or high-speed manufacturing environments preferred.
  • Strong understanding of OSHA safety requirements, lockout/tagout procedures, and industrial safety practices.
