Position Description & Responsibilities

Multi-Department Clerk Position Summary

The Multi-Department Clerk provides support across multiple departments, in this case, in the roles of Front End Clerk (cashier), and Center Store/Grocery Clerk, with multiple shifts each week in each role. The Multi-Department Clerk will provide friendly and efficient service at point of sale as a Front End clerk, as well as stocking product and maintaining back stock areas and product display areas as a Center Store Clerk. The Multi-Department clerk will have regularly scheduled shifts in each department, and all shifts will be in the evening (2:00pm - 10:00pm).

Reports to: Grocery Manager, Front End Assistant Manager FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt Hours: Full Time

Primary Position Responsibilities:

• Performs duties of Front End and Center Store departments as directed.
• Stocks, rotates, merchandises and faces product according to department procedure.
• Checks out customer purchases accurately and efficiently.
• Receives product deliveries, ensuring order and invoice accuracy.
• Assists customers with grocery bagging or carry-outs as needed.
• Maintains back-stock areas according to department standards.
• Catalogues and codes invoices, if requested, according to procedure.
• Trains other staff as needed.
• Assists in multiple departments as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned to meet business needs.

Qualifications • A high level of adaptability, as the day-to-day of this role will change frequently • Ability to be trained in all departments, including on department equipment maintenance • Understanding technical requirements of the job and applying technical knowledge consistently. • Organizing tasks efficiently, maintains focus and stays productive. • Ability to take direction from management and work independently to meet expectations. • Desire to provide an excellent, friendly customer experience, and effectively listen to and communicate with customers and co-workers • Ability to prioritize and maintain focus in a fast-paced environment • Ideally, previous retail, grocery, dairy/freeze, natural foods, and/or customer service experience

Physical Demands • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds • Standing for duration of shift • Frequently requires: standing; walking; kneeling; squatting; bending; reaching; working in cool, cold, or wet environments; use of box cutters; and fine hand manipulation. • Using hand trucks, carts, and stepstools to stock product.
