The Staten Island Workforce1 Career Center is partnering with the Central Family Life Center (CFLC) to find qualified candidates for a Mobile Trauma Unit (MTU) Coordinator / Grief Counselor in Staten Island, NY. CFLC is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of Staten Island residents through programs that promote well-being, equity, and community healing. With over 30 years of service, CFLC supports children, youth, families, and vulnerable populations through education, direct services, and community-based initiatives.
Position Overview:
The MTU Coordinator / Grief Counselor provides immediate trauma-informed support and crisis intervention to individuals and communities impacted by violence. This role operates within a mobile unit, delivering counseling, outreach, and connections to resources while fostering a safe and supportive environment for healing.
 
This position is located in Staten Island, NY.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide crisis intervention, grief counseling, and trauma-informed support following community incidents
  • Coordinate and deliver mobile trauma response services across Staten Island
  • Connect individuals and families to mental health, social services, and community resources
  • Conduct outreach and build relationships with community partners, including youth organizations and faith-based groups
  • Maintain accurate documentation, track outcomes, and submit required reports
  • Support program operations, including data tracking and compliance with agency standards
  • Participate in trainings, community meetings, and strategic planning initiatives
  • Work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, based on community needs
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Public Health, or a related field required (Master’s preferred)
  • Experience providing counseling, preferably in trauma-informed or grief support settings
  • Experience working with underserved or high-need communities preferred
  • Strong crisis intervention, communication, and de-escalation skills
  • Ability to work independently in a mobile, community-based environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data reporting systems
  • Commitment to community healing, restorative practices, and cultural competence
  • Ability to travel locally and work outdoors as needed
Pay Range: USD $24.03 - USD $24.03 /Hr.
