Experience

Required:
  • Minimum three (3) years of successful teaching experience
  • Background in intervention strategies, Section 504, MTSS, and student support services
  • Experience in coaching, teacher leadership, or professional development facilitation
Function

The MTSS/504 Specialist will provide targeted support to the MTSS/504 Coordinator by assisting in the implementation, training, and compliance monitoring of academic and behavioral interventions. This role will focus on supporting campuses with MTSS/504 procedures, analyzing intervention data, and ensuring implementation fidelity across the district.

Reports To:

Section 504 and MTSS Programs and Services Coordinator

Responsibilities:
  • Support campuses in implementing recommendations of the Principal and the MTSS/504 Coordinator
  • Maintains a professional, knowledgeable relationship with campus staff
  • Serves as a positive role model and works cooperatively with others
  • Ability to train staff in assessment and intervention and Section 504 legal requirements, policies, and procedures
  • An understanding of best practices and legal requirements of Section 504
  • Understand state and district policies to ensure compliance to General Education Homebound requirements
  • Understand federal, state, and district policies on residential facilities to ensure compliance in programming
  • Support the Coordinator in ensuring documentation documentation and procedures meets federal, state, and district compliance for residential facilities
  • Support the instructional staff at residential facilities
  • Provide district-wide training on research-based behavioral strategies and interventions
  • Provide support to schools in using scientific, evidence-based behavior interventions for students
  • Promotes the development of social skills as an integral part of daily instruction
  • Support school leaders in selecting and applying research-based interventions for students needing behavioral support
  • Help develop and maintain referral methods, data tracking, and progress monitoring systems
  • Provide collaborative support to the school's efforts for MTSS implementation
  • Articulate the alignment of MTSS with the district's vision, mission, and instructional design
  • Assist with monitoring fidelity of MTSS interventions at the campus level
  • Work with campuses to ensure proper data collection, reporting, and progress monitoring
  • Help plan and implement building level staff development and observe instructional consistency
  • Assist with the implementation of a cohesive district-wide academic success plan to provide intervention, acceleration, and enrichment through summer and Saturday programs
  • Support marketing and recruiting strategies along with appropriate communication goals and objectives for all summer program sites
  • Supports all providers with respect to program goals and objectives
  • Support effective procedures and policies to ensure an effective summer program
  • Accepts other related assignments or duties as assigned by the MTSS/504 Coordinator
