Position Title:MRI Technologist - PRN - Edmond & SWDepartment:BHN-SouthwestJob Description:General Description: The MRI Technologist performs routine MRI examinations in accordance with established protocols, safety guidelines, and quality standards. Essential Responsibilities:Responsibilities listed in this section are core to the position. Inability to perform these responsibilities, with or without an accommodation, may result in disqualification from the position.Utilizing working knowledge, developing expertise, and available resources, provides safe, high‑quality, efficient, and patient‑centered care and support services under routine or emergent conditions. Functions with increased independence and clinical judgment across diverse care settings.Prepares patients for procedures and correlates clinical history with physician‑ordered exams to support appropriate imaging.Safely administers contrast per protocolDemonstrates the ability to recognize basic imaging artifacts and implement corrective measures independently or under guidance.Effectively communicates and collaborates with patients, families, and the care team to support desired clinical outcomes and service standards.Accurately transfers images and associated data to designated systems, completes basic technical documentation, and prepares studies for physician reporting.Carries out operator‑level quality control checks, cleaning, high‑level disinfection, and basic equipment maintenance per manufacturer instructions and regulatory requirements.Accurately document in EMR/PACSActively participates in continuing education, professional development, and research initiatives to maintain competencies and advance quality of care and treatment practices.Supports inventory tasks as needed to help ensure supplies are available. General Responsibilities:Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications:Education: Graduate of an accredited imaging, radiology or nuclear medicine program as defined by ARRT or ARMRIT orCompletion of JRCERT accredited Military Educational Program is accepted in lieu of other educational requirements.Experience: At least 1 year of MRI experience required.License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required: Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire.ARRT(RT)(MR) or ARMRIT certification is required upon hire. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of normal and abnormal anatomy and physiology, MRI imaging principles, and radiologic terminology. Applies core‑level primary specialty theory and techniques to independently perform MRI exams, complete post‑processing and image analysis, and accurately annotate study data and procedure documentation with minimal guidance.Ability to prioritize and independently complete clinical and non‑clinical work assignments with limited direction.Communicates effectively through verbal and written means to convey accurate, timely information and collaborate with patients, families, and multidisciplinary team members.Ability to prioritize and independently complete clinical and non‑clinical work assignments with limited direction, applying sound judgment to manage workload, competing priorities, and changing demands.Ability to multitask and remain calm in stressful situations, independently adjusting priorities and maintaining focus in fast‑paced or changing environments.Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomyKnowledge of and ability to apply HIPAA guidelines and standards.Ability to work as part of a diverse team and communicate effectively with others.Displays consistency and dependability by reporting to work as scheduled.Ability to be sensitive to patients’ physical and psychological needs.Ability to maintain accurate records and work accurately with names, numbers, and codes.Current OU Health Employees - Please click HERE to login.OU Health is an equal opportunity employer.
