ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND CORE RESPONSIBILITIES\n\n Adheres to the philosophy of patient safety and reporting of potential or actual safety issues.\n Attends in-service classes as assigned.\n Complies with all departmental and Hospital policies and procedures.\n Displays professional commitment and supports the unit team by promoting unity and teamwork among coworkers by maintaining a positive attitude and positive working relationships.\n Documents examination history on patient, documents unusual conditions and/or limitations, records the examination time and technologist identification in the PACS system.\n Effectively uses the Information Systems programs for daily duties and billing procedures.\n Lifts and transfers patients.\n Maintains confidentiality of patient care and medical record information.\n Abides by HIPAA regulations to access PHI only as necessary for job classification.\n Patient screening criteria that address ferromagnetic items, electrically conductive items, medical implants and devices, and risk for nephrogenic systemic fibrosis (NSF)\n Proper patient and equipment positioning activities to avoid thermal injuries\n Equipment and supplies that have been determined to be acceptable for use in the MRI environment\n (MR safe or MR conditional)\n MRI safety response procedures for patients who require urgent or emergent medical care\n MRI system emergency shutdown procedures, such as MRI system quench and cryogen safety procedures\n Patient hearing protection\n Management of patients with claustrophobia, anxiety, or emotional distress\n Performs safety inspection of equipment prior to initial use. Reports unsafe acts or conditions to manager.\n Complies with all safety and infection control policies and procedures.\n Possesses the skills and knowledge needed to assess the condition of the pediatric, adolescent, and geriatric patient(s) in order to demonstrate requested anatomy throughout proper patient positioning, technique selection, selection of contrast media, and application of immobilization and magnet safety devices. Provides educational information to family members as required.\n Responsible for quality imaging including proper protocol /sequence and patient positioning.\n Demonstrates knowledge, competency of magnet safety screening and zoning.\n Responsible for safe operation and maintenance of MRI equipment.\n Responsible for understanding and participating in the organization wide Performance Improvement Program through orientation, education, departmental and interdepartmental performance improvement, and quality planning activities.\n Reviews MRI requisition verifies examination with doctors orders, checks patient history and special instructions.
