SUMMARY OF POSITION

MPAC Events Assistant performs a variety of tasks related to the special event permitting process and events at McKinney Performing Arts Center. The tasks include event set-up and dismantling, patron and client services during events, and crowd control duties as assigned by the full-time administrative staff on duty for the event. The events can include but are not limited to wedding ceremonies & receptions, conferences, dinner parties, classes and business meetings. This position also has administrative responsibilities that correspond to the special event permitting process.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Sets up and break down events and programs.
  • Shows up in a timely fashion for all shifts as required, which will include nights and weekends.
  • Interacts with clients and serve as a representative of the MPAC.
  • Assists with entering, updating, and vetting rental inquiries.
  • Assists with site visits for rental clients
  • Assists clients with technical and non-technical issues and concerns as they develop.
  • Assists with maintaining a safe environment for the clients and staff by adhering to and enforcing standard safety practices.
  • Assists as needed as a staff on duty, house manager, ticket-taker, usher, and/or box office worker.
  • Assists as needed with housekeeping & maintenance and may include direct housekeeping support during events.
  • Coordinates with operations team to determine theatre event schedule and troubleshoot and solve problems during events.
  • Coordinates and posts volunteer opportunity listings
  • Assesses and assigns volunteer front-of-house staff positions
  • Provides excellent customer service.
  • Works with staff to prepare/plan for upcoming events.
  • Inspects and reports damages and maintains inventory of MPAC event items.
  • Performs minor emergency maintenance during events, such as replacement of lights bulbs.
  • Performs tasks which include vacuuming, sweeping and replenishing supplies/product as needed.
  • May log special event permit and film permit applications.
  • Provide support for Special Event Committee meetings.

Required Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Any work related experience resulting in acceptable proficiency levels in the below Minimum Qualifications may be an acceptable substitute.

High School diploma or GED.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Six (6) months of work experience.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • Must pass a drug screen and background check.
  • Must have Class C Texas Driver's License

Physical Demands/Supplemental

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Tasks involve the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds). While working special events, may exert medium physical effort, which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of medium weight (up to 50 pounds). Work comfortably on ladders and lifts. May stand and walk for extended periods of time while working special events.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

There is limited exposure to environmental conditions when in an office environment; however, is exposed to the elements, including but not limited to, weather and temperature, fumes, and noise.
