Description & Requirements

Bloomberg Media is seeking a versatile Multimedia Motion Graphic & Brand Designer to design new show branding packages and visualize complex stories across markets, finance, politics, and technology. You will be responsible for designing and producing premium motion graphics for both fast-turnaround and longer-term projects across broadcast, digital, live events and social media. A successful candidate will be able to translate editorial briefs and financial data into compelling graphics while working alongside our global newsroom.

Additionally, you will handle digital set design projects for our live studio environments in bureaus globally. Creating dynamic backdrops for panoramic walls and on-set monitors, defining the tone and reinforcing the branding for our live and taped programming.

Working collaboratively with producers, journalists, technical directors, and design directors, you will ensure Bloomberg’s visual standards are upheld across every screen, from smartphones to studio sets.

Key Responsibilities

Brand Design & Data Visualization

+ High-Quality Asset Creation: Design compelling and innovative visual assets, including brand identities and motion toolkits for new shows and specials, from title sequences and transitions to lower thirds and templates. This role also includes creative animations for post packages, such as data visualizations, complex charts and maps, while ensuring strict adherence to Bloomberg standards and branding guidelines.

+ Breaking News: Work effectively under pressure, pivoting and reacting quickly to evolving news events to deliver elements on a concise timeline without sacrificing quality or accuracy.

+ Sourcing: Utilize Bloomberg’s internal video/image libraries and external third-party resources with meticulous attention to detail and editorial accuracy.

Studio & Set Design

+ Environment Design: Conceptualize and execute static and animated digital backgrounds for panoramic walls and monitors across our global broadcast studios, including print designs for field banners and graphic wallpaper treatments.

+ Broadcast Optimization: Design, test and revise graphics to optimize for broadcast cameras, wall color calibration and studio shot blocking.

+ Strategic Collaboration: Partner with Directors and Lighting Designers to ensure digital backgrounds seamlessly integrate with physical set pieces and studio lighting.

Workflow & Collaboration

+ Project Management: Navigate the full production lifecycle from concept to completion, ensuring all media storage and project organization follow industry best practices. Manage your timelines and deliverables to ensure deadlines are met.

+ Creative Partnering & Communication: Collaborate with producers, journalists, and editors to elevate content through active teamwork and clear communication. Be comfortable discussing briefs and creative ideas with design and editorial leadership, and confidently pitch your design work. Be open and responsive to feedback and adapt your work to keep projects on track.

You’ll Need to Have:

+ Experience: 3+ years as a motion designer at a broadcast network or media design agency.

+ Technical Mastery: Expert-level Adobe Creative Suite, including After Effects, Photoshop, and Illustrator.

+ Adaptability: The ability to work independently or as part of a team, remaining flexible with hours when on deadline or during breaking news (including nights/weekends).

+ Portfolio: Must have a strong design portfolio or reel that highlights sophisticated branding, data visualization and motion graphics. Including a breakdown of project responsibilities or roles.

Nice to Have:

+ Experience with set design and large-scale studio/environmental graphics or a willingness to learn

+ 3D animation or modeling experience (C4D or other)

+ Experience with Figma, Frame.io, Slack, Google Workspace
