Job Title Morton Fitness Center Student Worker Position Summary
Position Summary | Whether you are into fitness or have never lifted a weight or ran on a treadmill you can work at the fitness center. If you are someone who is willing to work hard, and make their job at the fitness center a priority, this may be a great opportunity for you. Mornings, Nights, & Weekend hours available. Work is performed in office, fitness center and athletic field environments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities | Conduct & supervise daily operational assignments (i.e. answering phones, cleaning machines, posting flyers and providing data entry for the eFit Software program. Help coordinate all health/fitness/Intramural programs. Organize health/fitness events and activities on campus including but not limited to the following responsibilities: coordinating signage/postings; reporting activities at department meetings; and, reporting and publicizing events to University students and employees. Maintain the Morton Fitness Center and surrounding area with the following tasks including but not limited to: inspecting and reporting maintenance needs to facilities operations; inspecting facilities for cleanliness. Update the MFC and Recreation website when needed. Due to the nature of the position, other duties may be asked to be performed. Supervisor will inform the employee before any changes are made to the expected duties and responsibilities.
Education, Certifications and/or Licenses
Education, Certifications and/or Licenses | CRP preferred, but not required.
Experience
Experience | Computer literate with experience using an integrated administrative system and desk top computer. Proficient in word processing, presentations & data entry skills.

Ability to follow instructions or directives and promptly complete tasks as requested without follow up. Ability to provide excellent customer service to a diverse constituency: current/former students, faculty, staff, etc. Strong organizational skills & the ability to maintain a professional office and handle multiple tasks. Knowledge of standard office practices and procedures. Ability to be discrete in handling confidential matters, while complying with FERPA & HIPPA regulations. Knowledge of rules, standards, regulations. Ability to work independently in the most efficient manner with minimum supervision. Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Ability to maintain a professional appearance and office atmosphere. Ability to maintain composure in difficult situations. Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, manuals, and memos. Ability to prepare correspondence with demonstrated proficiency in grammar, punctuation, spelling and word usage. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other University employees. Should possess excellent verbal communication skills and have the ability to express one's self politely and effectively. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but involved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to identify when to seek guidance when posed with questions or situation requiring approval from superiors. Ability to work flexible work hours to support day, evening, and weekend activities. Ability to perform all physical duties as needed. May be subject to exposure to air and water borne pathogens, body fluids, and infectious diseases when applying CPR, First Aid or cleaning facilities.
