Careerscape is supporting the search for a Remote Mortgage Loan Officer on behalf of a growing mortgage lending company. The Mortgage Loan Officer will be responsible for originating residential mortgage loans, building relationships with borrowers and referral partners, and managing loan opportunities from initial conversation through closing. This role is a strong fit for someone who understands the mortgage process, communicates clearly, and knows how to create a smooth borrower experience.

Candidates with experience as a Mortgage Loan Officer, Loan Originator, Residential Loan Officer, Mortgage Advisor, Mortgage Consultant, or Mortgage Sales Professional are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Originate residential mortgage loans for borrowers across assigned markets
  • Work with homebuyers and homeowners to understand their financing needs
  • Recommend appropriate mortgage products, loan structures, and financing options
  • Support purchase loans, refinance loans, conventional loans, FHA loans, VA loans, jumbo loans, and other residential lending products
  • Guide borrowers through the mortgage application, documentation, approval, and closing process
  • Build and maintain relationships with real estate agents, referral partners, past clients, and prospective borrowers
  • Manage an active loan pipeline and maintain consistent follow-up with borrowers and partners
  • Coordinate with processing, underwriting, closing, and operations teams to help move loans forward efficiently
  • Explain rates, loan terms, documentation requirements, disclosures, and next steps in a clear and professional manner
  • Use CRM, LOS, and digital mortgage platforms to track leads, applications, and borrower communication
  • Stay informed on mortgage products, lending guidelines, compliance requirements, and industry trends
  • Deliver a responsive, professional, and client-focused borrower experience

Requirements

  • Active NMLS license required, or ability to obtain required licensing quickly
  • 1+ year of experience in mortgage loan origination, mortgage sales, residential lending, banking, or financial services sales preferred
  • Understanding of mortgage products, including purchase loans, refinance loans, conventional loans, FHA loans, and VA loans
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain mortgage options clearly
  • Ability to build trust with borrowers, referral partners, and internal teams
  • Experience managing a sales pipeline and following up consistently
  • Comfortable working in a fully remote environment
  • Self-motivated, organized, and accountable in a production-driven role
  • Familiarity with mortgage documentation, disclosures, compliance, and lending regulations
  • Strong relationship-building, problem-solving, and customer service skills
