Position Purpose
Monitors, records and reports heart rhythm, seizure and fall risk activity for patients with orders for telemetry, Electronic Monitoring Unit and AvaSys Telesitter monitoring. Ensures equipment in working order in conjunction with Clinical Engineering and IT Departments.
As a "Monitor Tech" you will:
- Monitors heart rhythm pattern of patients in special care unit.
- Monitors, records and reports heart rhythm, seizure and fall risk activity for patients with orders for telemetry, Electronic Monitoring Unit and AvaSys Telesitter monitoring.
- Detects abnormal pattern variances using telemetry equipment and Electronic Monitoring Unit for Seizure activity.
- Reviews patient information to determine normal heart rhythm pattern, current pattern and prior variances.
- Consistently, accurately, and promptly transmits accurate information regarding reports and patient data, or other pertinent information to appropriate healthcare team members.
- Uses the hospital-wide communication systems appropriately including: initiating emergency communications according to HCH standards, responding to call lights, receiving/relaying telephone communications, prioritizing and requesting needed services and following through to ensure customer and staff satisfaction.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High SchooI Diploma or GED equivalent
- Six months experience performing rhythm strip interpretation.
- Ability to communicate and work with medical professionals.
- Any equivalent combination of education and work experience required to provide comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Demonstrated leadership ability, human relations and organization skills.
- Must be able to hear and verbally communicate with the telephone, for essential duties involving receiving and giving information.
- Provides accurate and timely interpretation and dissemination of information to critical care staff members and other members of the health care team related to patients cardiac rhythms as per cardiac monitoring.
Pay Range: $18.11 - $25.35
Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.

0.5 FTE (20 hours weekly) up to 1.0 FTE (40 hours weekly)
