Prefer medical or monitor tech experience
Central Monitoring Unit: Requires validation of competency by scoring a minimum of 90% on the Basic Dysrhythmia test
Must be able to communicate effectively in English
The Monitor Technician observes the cardiac rhythm of patients in the assigned unit, assesses patients'' status and reports the patient''s cardiac rhythm to medical/nursing staff. This position requires population specific competencies.
The Monitor Technician responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Operates complex cardiac monitoring systems, including ECG rhythm screens, computerized dysrhythmia detection system, and rhythm strip printers
Maintains accurate neat account of patients cardiac monitoring status during episode of care
Identifies and records patient rhythm in patient log as appropriate
Verbally communicates report on pertinent patient/monitor data to/from appropriate colleagues
During code situations, maintains contact with appropriate staff to assist with rhythm interpretation and dysrhythmia detection
Contacts biomedical engineering in a timely manner when the monitor equipment malfunctions
Ensure and maintain proper operation and upkeep of monitoring equipment
The Monitor Technician reports to the Manager of Central Monitoring.

Consistently viewing monitor screens for up to four hours at a time (and up to 8 hours per day). No hazards.
